About 2 years ago, I did a picture request for my good friend and muse Cyndie aka . She was pleased with it though thought it made her look somewhat moody.
Fast forward to now and I thought I'd produce a series where I remake some of my older works and then compare the 2 to see whether the law of the original pieces being the best apply to my works- like with 'Geisha Cyndie Redux'. Looking through my old photo references, I lay eyes upon the original photo reference for 'Request Gift- Cyndie' and decided it would be the first piece in this series.
My thoughts; The scale is better than the previous image- I didn't have to improvise the lower half of the body or crop the paper in 2/3's, though I wonder about the expression. I think she looks weary and tired here than the 'moody' of the previous piece (perhaps this reflects changes in myself from 2 years ago?). The contrasts with the background is fairly jarring, as I used a marker rather than fineliner to shade it, but this is done to emphasise how the figure is within space rather than being a part of space like furniture.
Please take a look at the previous image (link above) and tell me your thoughts on this
Hahah My brother just saw this and he said 'I like it' and I'd have to agree with him but my eyes look a little darker in the orginal but I like how open and clean this one is. You'd make a kickin rad tattoo artist or something lol. You know how to make a girl's day Heath.
Heh, quite an achievement to get a little brother to like a picture of his big sis But I'm glad you like it May tweak it a little later- add some lip shading and maybe add the shading to the eyes- but I'll think on that one. Still, if it's made your day then at least the key one of my mission's objectives with this piece has been accomplished

`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
