Looks like this is my 100th deviation! I've been on DA for 3 years and I've only just reached 100 Deviation-worthy pictures but while it's also a 100th dev pic, it's also a gift art for Catalina, who's had me on watch for almost all the 3 years I've been on here, and to ease the troubles she's been facing lately. Looks like the skies are lightening up for her now though hope the clouds continue to depart
Though given the photo reference is of her body, why did I focus on her face in particular? Aside from being on a roll with portraits, sometimes you can get lost staring at a full-body picture- fashion, nude or otherwise. But with this pic, I wanted to show that air of defiance against grimness- hence the grey background.
Yet all didn't quite go to plan. Aside from my markers beginning to show signs of wearing out (notice the thinning of the colours in places), Catalina's face was as tricky to draw as it is beautiful Can't quite put my finger on it, but replicating her beauty in pencil was rather challenging. I think I produced a presentable piece, but I don't think it quite captures how her enchanting looks, even with one gaze, can ensnare you.
Then again, that's probably something only the real deal can portray
Glad you like it Hope everything goes well for you from now on

This is gorgeous and I love the shading. I am semi-familiar with Catalina's work, and she is beautiful. It's funny, though, because this reminded me of a friend of mine named Leah. I almost wondered if you knew her too.
Hmm, I know some Leahs, though don't think I've come across your friend Leah. How does the work remind you of her? Does she look similar?

It does, actually. And since Leah is an actress/model, I thought maybe you had seen her photo somewhere and incorporated her into the image. But no. That's okay.
Ahh yeah, I see the resemblance Wouldn't mind doing a pic of her though. Will have to keep that in mind

I'm sure she'd be ecstatic to have a drawing of herself. She loves stuff like that. And she's a complete sweetheart. If you ever e-mail her, just tell her we're friends. She knows me all too well.
`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
